A Beautiful Day

Today is a beautiful day! I am so glad to be a teacher so I can have special days off to spend with Luke. I think it makes the time I have off so much more special. Today Luke and I went for a walk and to the park with my friend Ashley and her son, Jack. Luke loves being outside so we took a stroll down mainstreet and around the track before we stopped at the swings. Luke loves the baby swing at daycare so I decided to take a few pictures of him in the swing at the park. He had a blast! He loved swinging and I know the park is going to be a favorite place of his when he is old enough to enjoy it. We are so lucky to live in such a neat town. The park is right down the street so we can walk to it easily. Luke loves to be outside and just talked nonstop while we were on our walk. He also loves kids so it was a plus to have baby Jack with us! Here are some pictures!

Luke's Baptism

We had a very busy weekend! On Sunday Luke was baptized and it was a great early birthday present. I was so proud of Luke. He usually cries while he's at church, all during the nursery unless Trey or I are in there with him. I was a nervous wreck because I just knew Luke would scream his head off during the baptism. But, he was an angel! Luke even threw his head back when the pastor was baptizing him and water went all over his face but it didn't phase him one bit! Trey and I couldn't have been happier! After the baptism our church sings a song to the child who is being baptized and it has their name in it. I can never get through this song without tearing up, no matter who is being baptized and whether I know them or not. Sunday was no exception! I cried the entire time and couldn't sing a word! The song is so sweet and it always reminds me of how innocent children really are and how God really is so good to us. I couldn't imagine my life without Luke and I am thankful everyday of the blessings He has given my family.
Here are the words to the song:

God Claims You (words and music by Stanley M. Farr)

Luke, Luke, God claims you, God helps you, protects you, and loves you too.
We this day do all agree a child of God you'll always be.
We your family love you so, we vow to help your faith to grow.
We are here to say this day that we will help you on your way.
And if you should tire or cry then we will sing this lullaby.

After church we had lunch at our house for everyone. It was a great time for both of our families to get together which doesn't happen often! Here are some pictures.

Off to Union!

On Saturday we went to Union to Tommy and Donna's house for a cookout. It was great seeing everyone and we had a great time. Luke got to spend some time with Gran and Papa Mok as well as Uncle Brett, Aunt Ashley and Uncle Woo! Donna and Tommy cooked hot dogs and we had a wonderful time hanging out with everyone who we don't get to see very often! Luke did well at first but he's in this stage where he only wants his mommy or daddy to hold him when he's around a big group. I can't really blame him though...it is pretty scary when we all get together! He does really well at daycare, he never cries when we drop him off but between Saturday night at the Anthony shindig and Sunday at church, I'm not sure what I'm going to do about his crying fits. I think he's going to have my personality though and be a little shy around large groups. It does take him a while to get used to people and situations he's never been in before!

Still sick...

Have you ever had just one of those weeks where nothing seemed to go your way? So...I thought Luke was doing well this week until I get a call from daycare that he won't take his bottle. So yesterday, I took him to the doctor and low and behold...we have another ear infection! This makes number 5 so we will be seeing the ENT very soon! I took Luke back to daycare and I went back to work for a few hours before I had to leave so I could go to the doctor myself! I picked Luke up from daycare b/c Trey had to go out of town and I wasn't sure if I would be back in time before the daycare closed. I was just going to take Luke to the doctor with me. I didn't even get 1 mile down the road when Luke projectile vomited all over himself, the car and the carseat. I pulled over to see what the damage was and lets just say I didn't have nearly enough wipes. So, I took Luke home, cancelled my appointment and put him in the tub. Mind you...I'm home alone, Trey is out of town, none of my neighbors are home and I have a pukey child and a car/carseat full of vomit that needs to be cleaned. Luke on the otherhand didn't have a care in the world and didn't seem to mind that he was covered in puke. After I got Luke all cleaned up, I had to get down to business. I put Luke in the stroller so I could watch him and clean everything up. Let's just say I had to take the carseat apart so I could clean it all and by the end of it all I was covered myself. Luckily, I have a wonderful mother who heard the panic in my voice and came to B-L as soon as she could last night and she kept Luke today while I went to work. Now...I'm sure you're wondering as well as I, what Luke has to make him sick so much. Well, I'm not sure if he got sick because of his ear infection, a true stomach bug, or teething (he's had some rough diapers today). It could also be the new medication he's on for his ears. So, who knows! But, I will have to say that my son is a trooper and has not whimpered one time. He is definitely not a whiney child and has been so good throughout this whole ordeal! I do believe I will be better off if I don't see puke for a very long time! Although the week was rough, we did have some fun times and here are a few pictures.
